Zambia and China’s Fanye Electric Forge Clean Energy Future

In a landmark move to accelerate clean energy adoption and youth empowerment, the Zambian government has signed a transformative partnership with Jiangsu Fanye Power Energy Equipment Company Limited, a leading Chinese power equipment manufacturer.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in Lusaka, marks a new chapter in Zambia’s energy development strategy. The agreement focuses on solar technology deployment, transformer manufacturing, and power grid upgrades—key components in Zambia’s push for reliable, affordable electricity.

At the heart of the partnership is a bold initiative to train young Zambians in advanced solar energy systems. Trainers from China will begin hands-on instruction at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium, introducing cost-effective, world-class solar technologies. The program will expand to other regions, equipping youth with the skills to tackle persistent power outages and contribute to the country’s green energy transition.

“This endeavor opens a new era of knowledge transfer,” said Nkandu

“It’s not just about infrastructure—it’s about investing in our people.”

The collaboration also reinforces Zambia’s six-decade-long diplomatic relationship with China. Officials hailed the partnership as a testament to the enduring warmth and strategic alignment between the two nations.

The initiative aligns with Zambia’s National Energy Compact and the continental Mission 300 campaign, which aims to connect 300 million Africans to clean energy by 2030. Complementing this effort, the Universal Energy Facility has awarded over $1.1 million to private developers for mini-grid projects in rural Zambia, further expanding energy access.

With the MoU now signed, Fanye Electric is set to demonstrate its solar technology in Zambia, signaling the start of a new era in sustainable development. As the country positions itself as a regional leader in clean energy, this partnership could serve as a model for other African nations seeking to combine infrastructure growth with human capital investment.

And the chairman of the Chinese Business Community Mr. Wu Ming in an interview stated that China and Zambia are good friends and it will last Forever.

He also urged the chinses business in Zambia to invest more in the country.

AIRUMI New Energy Zambia BOOST Football Donation

And under the leadership of General Manager Jimmy and Marketing Director Terry, AIRUMI New Energy actively fulfilled its corporate social responsibility by donating 150 football supplies to rural schools in Central Province. The company also focus on R&D and manufacturing of new energy and power technologies

The SUNVOLT lead-acid batteries, with a 15-month warranty, aim to provide reliable, accessible and affordable energy to Zambian families and enterprises.

He also said that the donation is part of the localization efforts. Youth are a nation's future, and these supplies will let more children learn discipline, collaboration and perseverance through playing football.

AIRUMI New Energy Zambia has donated 150 footballs to Mumbwa Constituency through the member of Parliament.

Speaking during the handover ceremony in Lusaka, Mumbwa member of Parliament Credo Nanjuwa stated that the gesture is a welcome move because it is an indication of the strong relationship  created with investors in the country.

Meanwhile, Zambia Chinese Association Chairman Mr. Wu Ming has promised to bring more Chinese investors in the country.

And under the leadership of General Manager Jimmy and Marketing Director Terry, AIRUMI New Energy actively fulfilled its corporate social responsibility by donating 150 footballs to Southern Province. 

The donation is another philanthropic initiative in the series of social welfare activities carried out by Airumi New Energy since its establishment. 

To date, the company has donated various materials worth a total of more than K4,000,000 .

This year's show attracted a lot of international investors like china, Botswana and Tanzania .

Zambia Chinese Association president Mr Zhang Jian appreciated the Chinese community in Zambia to participate in this year's Agriculture and Commercial like SunVolt battery company, Happy Land and Resorts.

Mr Zhang Jian stated that for the country to adapt to climate change they is need to invest more in solar energy systems to combat effects of climate change.

He added that china is ready and will be there to support Zambia to adapt to climate change.

He was speaking during the visit of vice Mayor of Nanchanga Municipal of Jiangxi Province  AN Baojun of china.

Chief Nalubamba of the Ila speaking people of Namwala District in Southern Province has emphasized the need for collaboration to transform food systems, highlighting the importance of beginning where food begins in the food baskets of grandmothers and in the song lines, rituals, and stories that guide relationships with land.

Speaking during the Partnership Brokering Platform being convened as part of the lead up to the Ikubi Lya BanaMunyati Traditional Ceremony which will take place on 18th to 21st September 2025.

His Royal Highness Chief Nalubamba of Namwala in the room with stakeholders lead the discussion and shared the ways in which his kingdom is promoting agroecology to fight climate change and protect local food and seed systems.

He also noted that when the rains delay and when the seed fails to sprout, it is not just hunger, but it is heartbreak. Hence the need to create field schools in ancestral knowledge as well as seed banks planted next to storytelling circles.

Meanwhile, Zambia Alliance for Agroecology and Biodiversity (ZAAB) National Coordinator Mutinta Nketani added that Zambia needs to interrogate the components of food systems and their contribution to climate change, biodiversity loss, and greenhouse gas emissions.

The 500 footballs will be distributed across schools, youth academies, and community hubs in Zambia’s 10 provinces, offering structured play and training to thousands of children. Local coaches say this support could revive sports programs that have suffered from limited resources, especially in rural areas.

Mr. Ming added that the Chinese community sees sports as essential to human development, and remains dedicated to supporting Zambia’s Sports Ministry and its affiliated associations.

Among those inspired is Ruth Mweemba, a young Lusaka footballer, who shared her excitement:

“This isn’t just corporate goodwill. It’s a statement that our dreams are seen and supported. You never know—I might go on to wear national colors.”

Ruth called on more private sector players to partner with the government in empowering youth through sports. “Let this spark ripple through all 10 provinces,” she urged.
